Research and Clinical Trials

The UCLA Substance Abuse Pharmacotherapy Unit is an esteemed group of doctors and researchers working to find solutions to medical and public health issues surrounding drug addiction.

Through clinical trials and research activities sponsored by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, UCLA SARx continues to make advancements in the treatment of addiction.

Currently, there are three clinical trials being conducted in the Los Angeles area which are actively recruiting participants.
The purpose of the two bupropion trials is to find out if this medication can help adults and adolescents reduce or stop their methamphetamine use. The third study, a phase I safety interaction trial for ibudilast, is designed to collect data to determine whether that medication is safe for use as a potential treatment for methamphetamine-dependent people.

To participate in any of these three clinical research trials, contact our methamphetamine studies hotline at (866) 449-UCLA.
